Rules

Rules to be observed by yogis meditating at Sati Meditation Centre:

  1. Yogis must observe the Eight Precepts unless otherwise allowed by the meditation teacher.

  2. Yogis must practice according to the instruction of the meditation teacher and not according to other meditation method.

  3. Yogis must follow strictly the Yogis Daily Schedule set up by the centre, unless otherwise allowed by the meditation teacher.

  4. Reading and writing are not allowed during the period of intensive retreat.

  5. Talking should be limited to only what is necessary and should be done softly so as not to disturb other yogis. Silence is noble. Socializing is strictly not allowed.

  6. The usage of handset or any communication devices are not allowed during meditation.

  7. Yogis' clothing must be white colour shirt with sleeve and plain slack which is easy for sitting meditation.

  8. Yogis are not allowed to keep food and beverages in the room.

  9. Yogis are not allowed to smoke.

  10. Yogis must take care of facilities in the centre and keep the environment clean.

  11. Should a yogis not comply with the regulations, he may be requested to leave the centre.

 

Eight Precepts

  1. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from destroying living being.

  2. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from taking things not given.

  3. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from unchastity.

  4. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from false speech.

  5. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from intoxicants causing heedlessness.

  6. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from untimely meals.

  7. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from dacing, singing, music and unseemly shows; from the use of garland, perfume, cosmetic personal adornments.

  8. I undertake to observe the precept to abstain from high and luxurious seats.

   5.30 a.m. Sitting Meditation
   6.30 a.m. Breakfast
   7.15 a.m. Clean-work
   8.00 a.m. Walking Meditation
   9.00 a.m. Sitting Meditation
10.00 a.m. Bath / Walking Meditation
11.00 a.m. Lunch
12.00 noon Rest
   1.00 p.m. Walking Meditation
   2.00 p.m. Sitting Meditation
   3.00 p.m. Walking Meditation / Interview
   4.00 p.m. Sitting Meditation
   5.00 p.m. Walking Meditation / Drinks
   6.00 p.m. Sitting Meditation
   7.00 p.m. Walking Meditation
   8.00 p.m. Dhamma Talks
   9.30 p.m. Metta Chanting
